“Digital Storytelling is an emerging term which relates to the use of digital tools to convey stories in an interactive compelling way.” Wikipedia “Digital stories derive their power by weaving images, music, narrative and voice together, thereby giving deep dimension and vivid color to characters, situations, experiences, and insights.”Wikipedia Examples: Web-based stories: Online Readings - All of your online readings and materials
Interactive stories: Museums, Educational School Readings
o Museums: Washington DC old war museum, at a bomb exhibit there was an interactive video which described the uses of the bomb and how it was used in a real war setting. A written response could only test your imagination so much.
o Educational School Readings: Stories where it requires you to spell certain words to continue along the story and needs some sort of educational input in order to finish. It turns the reading into a competition to finish.
Hypertexts
- “Hypertext is text, displayed on a computer, with references (hyperlinks) to other text that the reader can immediately access, usually by a mouse click or keypress sequence. Picture of Disney Land as an add on a page and by clicking the picture you get re routed to Disney Worlds website. Allows you to side track and gain information” Quote from Wikipedia
